Elm City United Methodist Church

Fall - Spring

LOGOS Children's Fellowship

The children and youth of our church meet monthly for a special time of fellowship and Bible study from fall to spring.  (VBS is held during the summer) Logos provides a great opportunity for children to learn more about Christ while sharing a meal with friends and family and learning scripture and music.  LOGOS meets on the last Wednesday of each month from 6-8 pm.

The LOGOS ministry is held once a month at Elm City United Methodist Church on a Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm starting September 29th through May 25th for ages 3-high school.  The children eat, have fun, worship and learn more about the Bible.  The Sunday following LOGOS the children will be part of the worship service too!

What is the LOGOS ministry?

For more than 45 years, LOGOS has partnered with local churches in a ministry to children and youth that is based upon the spiritual intent of the early Christian church as expressed in the Bible’s book of Acts. As a result, many LOGOS weekly ministries are composed of four parts that are integrated within a nurturing environment of Christian relationships.

The four parts of the LOGOS weekly ministry model are:

Bible Study - Bible study nurtures youth and children into intelligent, obedient, and biblically informed discipleship. In grade level groups, each LOGOS class uses a curriculum that is designed to meet their unique needs and learning capabilities. We have developed Faith for Life2 to be a powerful Bible study resource for any weekly LOGOS ministry.
Worship Skills - Worship is essential and central to the Christian community. In Worship Skills young people learn about worship and prepare to lead in the Sunday morning service of worship. This is typically done through singing, bell, or speaking choirs, drama, or movement and dance.
Recreation Play – Recreation Play allows LOGOS young people to experience great fun at the expense of no one else. They participate in games and active play, do crafts, or experience the hobby or special interest of a member of the congregation. When we reveal ourselves in play, we strengthen friendships, and when conflicts occur, we practice our Child of God theology.
Family Time - Family Time provides a joyous, inter-generational celebration of person-hood over a shared meal as LOGOS young people experience being part of the family of God. Young people are assigned to tables along with one or two adults who act as "table parents." The group around the table becomes a family as they share meals together throughout the year. Food is served family style. Conversation is purposeful. Life is celebrated!

The LOGOS Ministry is a non-denominational Christian ministry that works in partnership with local church leaders to build young disciples of Jesus Christ. LOGOS fulfills this purpose by:
  • Training ministry leaders and teams in the theory and practice of children's ministry
  • Advising and counseling church ministry teams regarding the development and management of effective children’s ministry approaches
  • Providing Bible curriculum and children’s ministry resources to support local ministry teams
  • Advancing and communicating new ideas and points of view on children’s ministry and providing forums for their further discussion by ministry leaders
  • Facilitating the connections between denominational leaderships, church ministry teams, and other ministries that are seeking to create new children’s ministry solutions
LOGOS is organized to support its mission with a central corporate office and a team of regional advisers.

We hope you will be able to join us for LOGOS this year!  We plan to have lots of fun and to grow together in God's Word and build great relationships along the way!  Come join us!!
